Banking Leader Deploys cPacket to Eliminate Kubernetes Blind Spots for Faster Incident Response

One of the world's ten largest banks is moving key services into Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes and must maintain operational control and incident-response readiness. As adoption accelerated, the bank lacked visibility into east-west, pod-to-pod traffic inside its clusters, which slowed investigations, increased escalations, and raised migration risk. Traditional physical instrumentation took too long to deploy when incidents recurred. The bank needed always-on visibility for top-tier applications, on-demand capture for less critical workloads, and minimal performance overhead in production. It also had to fit existing workflows so teams beyond specialists could use it.

Outcomes

  • Visibility into east-west traffic: The eBPF-based cTap-V provides packet-level insight into pod-to-pod traffic inside the cluster, closing blind spots that slowed investigations.
  • No impact on production performance: In-cluster packet visibility runs within the bank's strict performance guardrails without disrupting services.
  • Faster evidence collection: Indexed capture and rapid recall were validated in real investigation workflows, helping teams retrieve the right traffic quickly.
  • Repeatable model for migration: The bank now has a repeatable operational model for Kubernetes evidence collection, with plans to expand from one site to a major U.S. data center and internationally.
