CPACKET PRESENTED "THE CURRENT NETWORK SECURITY MODEL IS A FALLACY" AT THE LINELY GROUP CONFERENCE ON EMBEDDED NETWORK SECURITY
JULY 16, 2008 – cPacket Networks President and CTO Rony Kay was invited to speak at the Linley Group conference on embedded network security about why "The Current Network Security Model is a Fallacy." The assumption that perimeter defense and centralized appliances are silver bullets that can solve all network-security and availability problems is a fallacy. Fundamentally, there is no one silver bullet for network security. Unfortunately, existing solutions do not address critical aspects of the security problem because of conceptual flaws, technological issues, and economic barriers. The increasing complexity of networks inhibits reliability and availability, necessitating comprehensive visibility and control at internal network nodes. Pervasive deployment at internal network nodes, however, requires a high-speed, low power, and cost effective solution, which is able to process every bit in every packet at full line rate under any stress conditions. cPacket discussed how its unique architecture and simple software model address the need for embedding network visibility and response in line cards, switches, and routers.

About cPacket Networks
cPacket Networks is an emerging leader in chips and
technologies that offers breakthrough, “complete” packet inspection, at a
fraction of the complexity, power, or cost of preexisting approaches. It
provides manufacturers of routers, switches and other network appliances a
low-impact means to easily drop game-changing, wire-speed active network
traffic analysis and response directly into their existing or planned designs –
whether targeted at the service providers, the enterprise, or the small office.
The exploding use of networks for media-centric applications makes the
availability of truly pervasive deep packet inspection timely and crucial.
cPacket was founded in 2003 and is located in Mountain
